British star Vera Day looks back at her career with Professor Steve Chibnall, from first major role in Carol Reed’s A Kid for Two Farthings (1955), alongside Celia Johnson and Diana Dors, to a memorable speech on the rules of poker in Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). In between she starred in cult horror classics including Quatermass 2 and The Woman-Eater, while in the 1959 comedy Too Many Crooks she’s the moll in a gang of thieves led by George Cole and Sid James.
Once hailed as the British Monroe, she acted with Marilyn in The Prince and the Showgirl.
