Bette Davis On The Edge is set in the early hours of 31st October 1962, as motion picture legend, Bette Davis, anxiously awaits the reviews of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. As she waits, she reflects on her career from the “talkies” to the present day. Her story is the entire history of the American motion picture industry.

The play is written and performed by American actress Christine St John and has already toured in the US, including New York. Claire Evans is delighted to be able to bring the show to the Cinema Museum as part of its UK Premiere performances and all proceeds from this performance will be donated to the Cinema Museum.

The play, drawing on extensive research conducted by Christine St John at the Motion Picture Academy Library in Los Angeles and the Bette Davis Archival Collection in Boston, is more than a catalogue of showbiz reminiscences. Bette Davis On the Edge is packed with drama, intrigue and comedy, providing a unique and touching insight into both Hollywood in its heyday and arguably the finest actress of her generation.

Christine St John has spent the last two decades living and working in London. She has appeared in many productions in both the US and UK.

Claire Evans produces theatre on the London and Edinburgh Fringe.
