Transculture at the Cinema Museum: Southern Comfort (2001)

Fri 6 Sep 2013 @ 19:30 · Events

Southern Comfort (2001)

The winner of the Grand Jury Prize for documentary at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival, Southern Comfort tells the tragic and deeply moving story of Robert Eads, a female to male transexual and his battle with ovarian cancer.

His cancer battle is compounded by the fact that he is turned down for treatment because he is transexual. His only comfort is the love of his partner, Lola, a male to female transexual, and the support of those close to him.

Southern Comfort is the story of a fight, not just against cancer but against prejudice. It is the story of love and loss, of hope and tragedy, and of rejection and acceptance.

See Fri 3 May for season details.

Doors open at 18.30 for a 19.30 start.
