The Cinema Museum, London

Free screening: Memorias de un Mexicano (1950)

Wed 27 Mar 2013 @ 19:30 · Events

Memorias de un Mexicano (1950) was directed by Carmen Toscano. It incorporates original early 20th-century footage of the last days of Porfirio Diaz’s government and the 1910-29 Mexican Revolution filmed by her father, Salvador Toscano, one of the first Mexican cinema directors. Important both for the history of cinema and for the history of Mexico, the 1950 film has been recently restored by Mexico’s Fundacion Toscano.

The film will be introduced in the context of Latin American early cinema by Dr Maria Chiara D’Argenio of King’s College London, and there’ll be opportunity for a Q&A and informal discussion after the screening.
