Fundraiser screening of Kensuke’s Kingdom (2024) plus Q&A with directors Kirk Hendry and Neil Boyle

Kensuke’s Kingdom posterKensuke’s Kingdom (2024) is the BAFTA-nominated animated film based on the best selling novel by Michael Morpurgo, with a screenplay by Frank Cottrell-Boyce, and featuring the voices of Cillian Murphy, Sally Hawkins and Ken Watanabe.

Young Michael and his dog wash up on a remote island when a violent storm sweeps them overboard during a family sailing trip. Believing he’s all alone, Michael is surprised to discover a mysterious Japanese man who’s lived on the island since World War II. Initially suspicious of each other, the boy and the old man must soon join forces when dangerous invaders threaten their fragile paradise.

Follow the screening, there will be a Q&A with directors Kirk Hendry (who is a Kennington resident) and Neil Boyle, along with Sound Designer Will Cohen, as well as composer Stuart Hancock, who will also being playing themes from the film on the piano before and after the screening.

Doors open at 13.00, for a 14.00 start.

Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
