The UK Buster Keaton Society. Quarterly meeting of the society dedicated to the appreciation of the silent comedian.
After a selection of Keaton shorts and a break, the second half will be a screening of Doughboys (1930). Keaton’s second talkie, which he considered the best film he made for MGM. Keaton drew on his own army experiences in WW1 for the film. Rich man Elmer (Buster) is in love with working girl Mary (Sally Eilers), but she ignores him. An accident lands him in the army. Elmer learns that Mary is on the base to entertain the troops, but she has caught the eye of his drill sergeant.
The meeting runs from 4pm to 7pm.
