Migrantes Unidos presents Bom Povo Português (1980) – SORRY EVENT CANCELLED

Fri 15 Nov 2024 @ 19:30 · Events

Bom Povo PortuguêsMigrantes Unidos presents a screening of the feature length, prize-winning documentary Bom Povo Português (The Good People of Portugal) (1980), with an introduction by director Rui Simões in person. In Portuguese with English subtitles.

Using film and television footage taken during the revolutionary movement of April 25, 1974 in Portugal, and mixing it with music and live interviews with common people, the director conveys a vivid account of the period in which a military coup evolved to a socialist revolution, then was turned into a European-style representative democracy by events that took place on the 25th November 1975, a successful military movement to stop the revolutionary process.

This event is part of the commemorations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th April Portuguese Revolution. A collaboration between Migrantes Unidos and The Cinema Museum.

Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.

Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
