The Sweeney After the sold out success of The Sweeney Reunion 2 at The Cinema Museum in March 2020, due to popular demand, Misty Moon is proud to bring back The Sweeney to the Cinema Museum for more tales of the flying squad from cast and crew.

The Sweeney (1975-1978) is a British TV drama focusing on two members of the Flying Squad, a branch of the Metropolitan Police specialising in tackling armed robbery and violent crime in London. It was made by Thames Television for broadcast on the ITV network. The programme’s title derives from “Sweeney Todd”, which is cockney rhyming slang for “Flying Squad”. It starred John Thaw as Detective Inspector Jack Regan and Dennis Waterman as his partner, Detective Sergeant George Carter. Such was its’ popularity that it spawned two feature film spin-offs: Sweeney! (1977) and Sweeney 2 (1978).

Diane Keen and John ThawDiane Keen was a regular on television during the 1970s and early 1980s, starring in long-running sitcoms such as The Cuckoo Waltz (1975-80), Rings On Their Fingers (1978-80), Shillingbury Tales (1980-81) and You Must Be The Husband (1987-88), and in two runs of the Thames Television children’s historical costume drama The Feathered Serpent (1976 and 1978). She also guest-starred in many shows, including The Morecambe and Wise Show (1981) and featured as Laura Dickens in the critically acclaimed spy drama The Sandbaggers (1978). Diane’s film credits include Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush (1968) and Sweeney! (1977), where she played Bianca Hamilton. Most recently Diane has appeared in Doctors (2003-12) and New Tricks (2013).

The Sweeney - George SweeneyGeorge Sweeney played the violent psychopath Tim Cook in the episodes “Taste of Fear” and “On The Run”.

George’s other screen credits include Jack The Ripper (1988), Citizen Smith (1977-80), The Bill (1990-2006) and For Your Eyes Only (1981).

Norman EshleyNorman Eshley played DS Robert Hargreaves in “Taste Of Fear” also starring George Sweeney and directed by David Wickes.

Norman’s other credits include George and Mildred (1976-79), Man About The House (1974-76), Murder Most Horrrid (1999) and The Bill (1999-2000).

Dean HarrisDean Harris played Jimmy Wands in “Thou Shall Not Kill”.

Dean’s other credits include Shoestring (1980), Wycliffe (1998), EastEnders (1990), Blake’s 7 (1981) and The Bill (1986-99).

John FlanaganJohn Flanagan aka DS Matt Matthews and Willard in the film Sweeney 2 (1978).

John’s other credits include Secret Army (1978), Heartbeat (1997-2003), Peak Practice (1997), Endeavour (2013) and The Bill (1989-2007), and as a writer on Doctor Who (1980), Heartbeat (1999 – 2007) and The Royal (2003 – 2011).

Madhav SharmaMadhav Sharma played Earle in “Golden Fleece”.

Madhav’s other credits include EastEnders (2018-19), East Is East (1999), Entrapment (1999), Casualty (2005-2006), Ashes To Ashes (2008), Doctors (2008-15), Eastenders (2018-2019), We Are Lady Parts (2021) and The Bill (1989-94).

After the Q&A there will be a meet and greet with the audience and the guests will take part in a paid signing.
