Kennington Talkies continues the season of Doris Day films with Love Me or Leave Me (1955), a musical drama directed by Charles Vidor, and co-starring James Cagney.
Love Me or Leave Me is a fictionalized account of the career of jazz singer Ruth Etting (Day) and her tempestuous marriage to gangster Marty Snyder (Cagney), who helped propel her to stardom. The film won the Academy Award for Best Writing, Motion Picture Story, awarded to Daniel Fuchs at the 1956 Oscars.
