Kennington Talkies concludes the Kay Francis season with For the Defense, a 1930 pre-Code crime drama, directed by John Cromwell and co-starring William Powell.
William Powell plays a slick attorney who specialises in representing crooks and keeping them out of jail, winning acquittals. His lover (Kay Francis), a dancer who is two-timing him, is responsible for a fatal road accident while out with her other man, who takes the blame. The lawyer is persuaded to defend him.
