This unique event is dedicated to the UK-India Year of Culture – a celebration of the 70th anniversary of Indian Independence and UK cultural ties.
It will be a full day of Indian film screenings, Bollywood dance workshops, regional food stalls, Henna hand painting and Indian fusion music at its best. A fun day for families, children, young people and expats to learn about Indian culture and heritage.
14.00 Babylon Sisters
Make the most of your Sunday by enjoying a matinee screening of Babylon Sisters (2017), directed by Gigi Roccati. A feel-good, song-soaked film about an Indian family emigrated to Italy, highlighting the power of sisterhood. Followed by Q&A with the director.
16.00 Bollywood dance workshop
Dance with the team from Bollywood Vibes Dance Company. Learn all the secret moves!
17.00 Live music
Soak in some Indian music with a fusion band led by Sirishkumar Manji, a famous tabla player, with Sergio Camassa (double bass) and David Wright (sax).
17.30 Hotel Salvation
A riveting evening screening follows with Mukti Bhawan: Hotel Salvation (2016), directed by Shubhashis Bhutiani, a multi award-winning film that deals with life, death and family ties. Followed by Q&A with the director led by Cary Sawhney, director of the Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival.
FOOD
Smell, taste and rejoice with chef Vishnu V. Natarajan of Food Passion. Delicious concoctions of the best Indian cuisine will be available all throughout the day.
Doors open at 13.30, for a 14.00 start.
