To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first publication of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Brian Sibley – writer, broadcaster and President of the Lewis Carroll Society – invites you to follow the White Rabbit through the camera lens and discover what Alice found there! Featuring Carrollian movie moments – mad, magical, timeless and tragical! – from Cecil Hepworth’s first-ever film of Alice in Wonderland (1903) via Walt Disney and Hanna-Barbera to Jan Svankmajer and Tim Burton.
After an interval, Brian will introduce a screening of Jonathan Miller’s iconoclastic 1966 BBC TV adaptation of Alice in Wonderland with an all-star cast including Peter Sellers, John Gielgud, Michael Redgrave, Peter Cook, Michael Gough, Leo McKern, Wilfred Brambell, Alan Bennett and Malcolm Muggeridge, with music by Ravi Shankar.
Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.
Refreshments will be available in our licenced cafe/bar.
