Film historian Geoff Brown describes a brief phenomenon in the months before Hitler assumed power when British film industry personnel worked in Berlin on multi-lingual film productions.
He will introduce a rare screening of Ludwig Berger’s captivating and sophisticated musical romance Early to Bed, featuring Heather Angel and Fernand Gravey, one of four films made in 1932 in Berlin in German, English, and French versions. He will also be showing clips to demonstrate the differences that can arise in alternate language versions of films, including rushes from the Elstree production Cape Forlorn (1930).
Doors open at 18.30 for a 19.30 start. Cafe/bar.
