After the huge success of the first event of this season, the Oscar-winning film historian introduces another rare short and feature from his collection, proving again that silent films aren’t mere curiosities – after all, 9 out of 10 of Hitchcock’s all-time favourite films were silent!
Kevin Brownlow has been collecting silent films for over 60 years. When he found a particularly striking film, he would try to meet the people who made it. Many of these interviews ended up in his landmark 1968 book The Parade’s Gone By …
These screening events are a unique chance to see some exceptional titles, with Kevin telling the background to their production.
The accompaniment will be provided by leading silent film musician Stephen Horne. Although principally a pianist, he often incorporates flute, accordion and keyboards into his performances – sometimes simultaneously!
Doors open at 18.30 for a 19.30 start. Refreshments will be available in our licenced cafe/bar.
The season continues on 1 June.
